Hundreds HMRC advisers plan to strike for 18 days in May and June

Over 400 advisers from HMRC's personal taxes operations employer services in Glasgow and Newcastle call centres are set to participate in 18 days of planned strikes scheduled for May and June.

The strikes are expected to have a significant impact on helplines including the HMRC employer helpline, construction industry scheme (CIS), student loans unit, PAYE registrations, maternity, paternity and sick pay.

The PSC union has called for the strike to put pressure on the government to improve pay, pensions, job security, and redundancy terms. The previous targeted strike action, which began last November and coincided with Budget day, was successful in making an impact.

The PSC is determined to keep the pressure on the government until its members' demands are met.
